Lochmara Day Trips
Discover a unique corner of the Marlborough Sounds with one of our Marlborough Sounds cruises, Queen Charlotte Track walks, and day tours.

Looking for things to do in Picton or Marlborough? Get off the beaten path and walk or bike the Queen Charlotte Track, explore our bushwalks and self-guided ecotour, feed the native kakariki birds and farm animals, visit the bird and gecko enclosures, discover art galleries and the hidden sculpture trail, play in the kayaks and on the beach, relax in a hammock, or indulge in day spa or café – it is up to you!

Trips depart from Picton up to four times daily, and daily from Anakiwa, Momorangi, and Mistletoe Bay.
Depart Picton 9am, 12 noon and 3.15pm daily.
Depart Lochmara for Picton daily at 11.00am, 2.15pm and 5:30pm (subject to availability)

Depart Momorangi 10.15am
Depart Anakiwa 10.30am
Depart Mistletoe Bay 10.15am

Please note minimum numbers apply and timetable may change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Charter bookings available for groups.

Cruise and explore
A great option for those with limited time and those who just want to relax. Cruise on the Queen Charlotte Sound from your chosen departure point to Lochmara Lodge. Take your time exploring the Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre, relax overlooking the bay, or book in advance for an indulgent massage treatment. Enjoy the flavours of our beautiful café before your return trip.

Cruise, walk and explore
Queen Charlotte Track Experience
Cruise from Picton to the iconic Queen Charlotte Track. You can choose to walk from the start of the track at Anakiwa (5 hr walk) or take a shorter walk from Mistletoe bay (2 hr walk) to Lochmara Lodge. Both walks pass through areas of native bush and enjoy fantastic views. Once at Lochmara Lodge you will have the afternoon to explore the Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre and enjoy the flavours of our beautiful cafe before cruising back to Picton.

Cruise, Bike, and Explore
Cruise from Picton to join the Queen Charlotte Track at Anakiwa (2.5 hr ride) or Mistletoe Bay (1 hr ride) for a blast on one of the best pieces of mountain-bike single track in New Zealand. Once at Lochmara Lodge you will have the afternoon to explore the Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre and enjoy the flavours of our beautiful cafe before cruising back to Picton. Mountain bike hire and safety equipment is included. Not a trip for mountain-bike novices!

Anakiwa or Mistletoe Bay Explorer
Perfect for those staying in the inner Queen Charlotte Sound – join our water taxi at Anakiwa, Mistletoe Bay, or Momorangi for a cruise to Lochmara Lodge. Explore the Sculpture Trail and Wildlife Recovery Centre and enjoy lunch in the restaurant the return to your base via a walk or bike on the Queen Charlotte Track, or join the return water taxi.
Adult one way $35, return $70.

Dinner in the Sounds

Treat yourself to a very special experience. Join our water taxi for an early evening cruise to Lochmara Lodge. Take some time to visit our art galleries and relax on the deck or in front of the fire before enjoying a three course a la carte meal in our elegant restaurant. After dark, take a short stroll to discover the magic of our glow-worm grotto…or for the adventurous, bring your swimsuit and swim with the phosphorescence (hot showers provided). Return via water taxi.$120 per person

All rates include entry to Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre, Kakariki feeding, and use of Lochmara Lodge facilities (including hammocks, kayaks, games equipment). Meals are not included.
