We believe that educating people is a key step towards sustainability of present and future conservation. We aim to inform New Zealanders about the fragile land in which we are the caretakers of, and consequently the huge dilemmas facing us as a nation.

Because of New Zealand’s unusual evolutionary past, we hold stock to one of the world’s most unique collection of plants and animals. Unfortunately, we have also lost proportionally more of its species in recent times than most other countries.

One in two New Zealand endemic birds and one in ten of our native plants are currently under threat of extinction. Furthermore, a variety of endemic reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and fish species are also gravely endangered.

Experts predict that within 10 years our national symbol the Kiwi bird will be extinct off the mainland of New Zealand, now that is worth fighting for.
